Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Robb’s announcement to appoint former CEO of Zip Industries Mr Michael Lee to undertake the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme is welcome news, says the Export Council of Australia (ECA).

The ECA fully supports continuation of the EDMG assistance program, and the announcement in March to boost funding by $50 million (over 4 years?) to help small and medium sized businesses reach their export potential.

Chief Operations Officer of the Export Council of Australia Lisa McAuley said Mr Lee was an excellent choice to run the review and someone from industry was part of the recommendation from the ECA to the Ministers office.

Minister Robb’s aggressive Trade agenda has resulted in more opportunities than ever before for Australian exporters and the ECA is looking forward to participating in the EDMG review and continuing to work closely with Australian exporters.
