The Korea Australia Free Trade Agreement (KAFTA) levels the playing field with our international competitors in Korea, Australia’s fourth largest trading partner. It provides a foundation for Australian exporters to expand their engagement and access new opportunities in the country.

KAFTA unlocks new opportunities for Australian service exporters, an important achievement considering our services trade with Korea trails far behind our trade in goods. KAFTA allows Australia service exporters to compete with service providers from around the world on an even keel.

The Export Council of Australia, in partnership with the NSW Government and with the support of our partners in this project Austrade, the
Australia-Korea Foundation who made this report possible would like to invite you to join us for the official launch of Demystifying Korea: Understanding and doing business in Korea for Australian service providers.

At this event, an expert panel will discuss the following:

  • Opportunities for Australian services companies in Korea
  • Challenges for Australian service exporters in Korea
  • Specific market opportunities in Korea in light of KAFTA, through a sector-based approach

The ECA's new mobile app will also be launched at the event.

Korea is a challenging market for Australian service exporters. Careful consideration of local conditions, obstacles and nuances can be the difference between success and failure.
